Miss Athene Fishing Charters - Striped Bass, Cod, Deep Sea Fishing

Rates: 6 Hours $450.00, 8 Hours $550.00 up to six adults, but, ideally four allows optimum fishing time for all anglers. Striped Bass fishing begins in the North Shore area of Boston in and around Salem Sound starting in mid June.

Capt. Joe has been fishing the North Shore area for over 15 years, using all types and methods of catching “Trophy Stripers.” Thousands of school bass are consistently available to catch. Although the so-called Good Old Days of 20-30 bass a day with fish all over 36" haven’t occurred in recent years, the fishing is still awesome.

Miss Athene Charters offers the best light tackle available to catch all sizes of Stripers!Last year each trip averaged 20-30 stripers, with almost a 100% keeper rate for all anglers (28" or longer). Last summer 3 stripers were caught on light gear weighing over 30lbs This requires top grade condition of gear and patience when fishing this Hardcore Gamefish.

Rates: 8 Hours- up to 4 anglers $550.00

These trips start in mid May and The Miss Athene departs out of Brant Rock, Marshfield and steams across Cape Cod Bay to work the productive areas off Wood End and Race Point. Most fish are caught using wire line tactics, plugs and other effective methods. Also a complete selection of light gear & fly rods are on board.

Rates: 10 Hours $650.00 up to 3 anglers

Rods are custom made and proven to withstand the most aggressive Giant Bluefin. Capt. Joe had caught Giant Tuna in other vessels as large as 62 ft. Hooking up in a 25 foot center console vessel allows for quicker and easier mobility to catch these magnificent creatures. If a Tuna is 73 inches or more it will be sold upon which 1/3 of the sale goes to anglers. Also free video!

Tuna: The following two types of Tuna Fishing is used.

1. Trolling: This usually initiated in early July with customized trolling gear. In past years as many as 3 Bluefin have been caught in one afternoon (mostly smaller school Tuna 50-175 lbs). However as mentioned last year a 360 lb. Bluefin was caught on our second trip out!

2. Chunking & Live Lining: Requires steaming out to a particular location usually in August and September where a bite hopefully would be taking place and anchoring up on the best structure possible at that location. This method demands more work on the anglers however the results can be most rewarding.

Rates: 10 Hours $650.00 up to 3 anglers

This is for anglers who seek the ultimate in Big Game Fishing but if unsuccessful with Giant Tuna the day is still not lost. This charter allows anglers to head offshore early in the morning and try to get The Big One. After fishing at least one slack tide the anglers can decide to continue or head in shore to catch what is almost a sure thing (Striped Bass) or continue offshore to troll for monster blues with light gear. Capt. Joe will not fish for Giant Bluefin unless the “Tuna Hotline” dictates so. The Miss Athene cruises at almost 30 knots, which allows anglers more time to fish by reaching offshore locations a lot sooner!

Rates: 6-8 Hours $600.00 up to 4 anglers

Cod Trips run in the spring, early summer and fall.

Largest Cod last year was 36lbs!!! Also haddock has been caught in mix!

Spring early summer (April,May,June) Codfish are usually caught off shore this time of the year and done so by jigging. Successful anglers usually steam in with sore shoulders and lots of fillets.

Fall (Sept, Oct, Nov) As a result of effective conservation, many cod this time of the year come in shore to spawn. Some individuals on these charters were in awe as the charter received as much as 400 lbs in the first two hours of fishingl. Average weight 8-10 lbs., some cod up to 20lbs!!!

To insure a little variety, these trips insure anglers an opportunity to catch some of the North Shores first Striped Bass with high percentage rates on keepers. This trip is offered in late May throughout mid June. Cod on this charter are usually caught offshore. This trip is for the aggressive fisherman who likes to return with cod fillets and experience catching the first keeper Bass of the season. Some of the first Bluefish of the North Shore may also be taken on this trip.

Rates: 4 Hours $350.00

As most fly-fishing enthusiasts are aware that some of the best fly-fishing is now taking place in the Northeast waters due to strong conservation efforts. This sport now has allowed all skill levels of anglers to catch Striped Bass. Although Capt. Joe is relatively new at fly-fishing he has had guests on board who have been extremely successful. Capt. Joe has Striper fished these waters for the last 15 years. Hence if you can throw a fly at any skill level, he’ll take you to where the fish are!
