THE VESSEL
· The Vessel: The Miss Athene is a center console Edgewater with an overall length of a lmost 27 feet with pulpit. It's capacity plate states up to 11 adults which truly confirm it's Sea worthiness, this is almost unheard of for a boat in the 247 class. The Miss Athene is relatively a brand new vessel with a Yamaha 250 engine, Captain Joe had researched extensively to find the vessel that is one of the best in it's class. For safety, fishability and flexibility. · Safety-Unsinkable-Edgewater's founder Bob Dougherty's firmly held beliefs, is you can take it anywhere do just about anything and have a boat that would redefine the word "Unsinkable." The Miss Athene is equipped with the latest in safety requirements and annually obtains a Coast Guard Inspection. · Fishability: It is No Dispute that fishing out of a Center Console allows anglers to fish at whatever location they need on the boat particularly when a fast moving Bass or Blue is changing direction not to mention Tuna. Also the Miss Athene can not only work inside "for Stripers" in the rocks, but also allow plenty of comfort to fish offshore. Whether trolling or chunking for "Giant Tuna" Capt. Joe feels after fighting tuna in larger boats that with Miss Athene's (6) six custom swivel rod holders in its gunnels we are able to fight large game fish without the vessel going backwards and soaking anglers. Giant Tuna are fought out of these swivel rod holders. This also allows the vessel to go in the direction that the boat was designed for!! As mentioned because of The Miss Athene's cruising speed of almost 30 knots it takes no time to reach the offshore fishing grounds (Stellewagon Bank and Jeffrey's Ledge).
